*?Cahoots- Alternative Police Response

CAHOOTS workers are not trained in law enforcement and do not have the same authority as police. We are a mobile crisis intervention team, designed as an alternative to police response for non-violent crises.

Image may contain: text that says 'CAHOOTS & THE POLICE DEPARTMENTS How are we connected and what does it mean for our clients?'
Image may contain: text that says '$ WHO PAYS CAHOOTS AND WHO DO YOU WORK FOR? CAHOOTS is a program staffed and managed by White Bird Clinic. In Eugene, the City funds this program through contract between EPD & CAHOOTS. In Springfield, funding is provided by both the City and Lane County. (Donations are also accepted & appreciated!)'
Image may contain: text that says 'WHY ARE CALLS FOR SERVICE MADE TO POLICE ON-EMERGENCY LINES? CAHOOTS is part of Eugene & Springfield's emergency response system. In Eugene, calls are taken and triaged by the Central Lane Communication Center. In Springfield, this is done by SPD's call-takers. all-takers. Then, our teams are dispatched via police radios by EPD & SPD dispatchers.'
Image may contain: text that says 'HOW DOES CAHOOTS PROTECT PRIVACY? CAHOOTS protects client privacy fiercely! The trust of the community is crucial to our ability to provide services. We also must adhere to HIPAA* privacy rules and we maintain our own internal secure records. Similarly, police & dispatchers have access to information in their work that cannot be shared with CAHOOTS due to confidentiality. *For more info, visit:hhs.gov/hipaa'
